I had so much fun on today’s engagement shoot with Amelia and Nate. They had their first date together at the Jacksonville Zoo. So, they wanted to do their engagement photos done at the zoo. These two were so fun to be around and their love would just make you smile (that and Nate being a goofball the whole time). There are so many great spots to shoot at the zoo, I’m buying a membership just so I can go back and do more shoots there.
We were in the Lorikeet aviary to try to get some shots of the birds. Then, I nabbed a shot with a pretty lorikeet on Amelia’s hand. I showed the shot to Amelia and Nate and she said, “That’s a cool ring shot”. I didn’t even think of it like that, but the ring wasn’t sharp. Then we got determined to get a good ring shot with a bird on her hand. However, it suddenly became something like Hitchcock’s “Birds” movie. It was time for the keepers to get them ready for bed and the birds start flocking back and forth, all within inches of our faces! We were determined to get a shot and the keeper was even helping us to get a colorful bird on Amelia’s hand. Finally, right before we were about to give up, we got the shot. What you also need to know is, I shot this with my 24mm lens (which means you have to get close). I was just inches from the birds face. You an see he’s kind of keeping an eye on that big glass thing right next to him! Ha!
I’ll post a full blog of their photos tomorrow, so come back to check it out!
